Students are encouraged to borrow weekly from the broad range of literature available. Borrowing sessions are timetabled for each class and students are also encouraged to browse and borrow before school and during breaks. Parents are encouraged to show an interest in books borrowed. We ask that all children use a library bag to protect these valuable resources.
Students are invited to participate in the annual Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC). They are encouraged to read a variety of books from a specified PRC list. Students reaching the PRC target receive a special certificate from the NSW Premier.
Students have regular timetabled lessons with a teacher librarian. The lessons focus on the development of information-processing skills, as well as technology skills for the 21st century. Content covered during the library lesson aligns with class programs.
A book fair is held annually. Commission earned through the sale of books provides valuable new resources for our library.
Book Week is celebrated each year with a parade and a variety of literature-rich activities..
